Our hike Table Mountain overnight excursion start of Kloof Neck and onto the Pipe track which takes a flat sweep above Camps Bay and across the Atlantic side of Table Mountain. The Pipe track route was constructed to service a pipeline running below the series of peaks known as the Twelve Apostles. This pipeline was built to carry water from Table Mountain’s Back to the Molteno Reservoir in Oranjezicht. After about an hour walking we will see a sign pointing up to Kasteel Poort: this path will take us up the ravine. Keep an eye out for the old cable car ruins, a piece of rock that juts out and offers awesome photo opportunities for those without a fear of heights. Table Mountain may look flat when viewed from the city below but in reality is far from flat. Spread over a vast expanse are valleys, plateau, crack systems, multiple buttresses and ravines criss cross by a network of paths and boardwalks. Once we get to the top of the Kasteel Poort gorge, the path will take us through a series of valleys, before getting all the way up to the Table Mountain front plateau, where you will be treated to spectacular views. After a most welcome midday break, we carry on our venture toward the true summit of Table Mountain. The path will take us along the Mountain Edge with spectacular views of the city below before reaching Maclear's Beacon (1085.9m) From here the trail will head down in a Southerly direction along the Eastern side of the Mountain lower plateau before arriving to our overnight accommodation.
It's a privilege to be in such magnificent landscapes of the iconic Table Mountain and feel stranded in the middle of nowhere yet the bustling city of Cape Town is around the corner. Today's route will take us north for a short while at the top of the Nursery ravine before heading west through a beautiful lush wooded valley. An interesting part of the mountain steeped in history. Our hike will take us pass two of the five reservoirs on Table Mountain lower plateau and then down Orange Kloof, the very back part of Table Mountain. Orange Kloof encompass some of the most enchanting area that Table Mountain has to offer. Beautiful deep, sometimes close to the edge wooded ravines covered with lush Afromontane forest before arriving to the huge horseshoe-shaped valley of Orange Kloof our final destination.
